Remote Sustainability Consultant - Agriculture

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Remote Sustainability Consultant specializing in Agriculture to join their growing advisory team. This role is entirely remote and focuses on guiding agricultural businesses towards more sustainable and environmentally responsible practices. You will assess current operations, develop customized sustainability strategies, and advise on implementing eco-friendly solutions across the value chain. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of environmental science, agricultural systems, and regulatory frameworks, combined with excellent remote communication and project management skills, driving positive environmental and economic outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive sustainability assessments of agricultural operations, including environmental impact, resource management, and social responsibility.
• Develop and implement strategic sustainability plans tailored to individual farm and agribusiness needs.
• Advise on best practices for water conservation, soil health, biodiversity, waste reduction, and carbon footprint management.
• Assist clients in meeting regulatory requirements and achieving sustainability certifications.
• Research and recommend innovative sustainable technologies and farming techniques.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and proposals for clients, communicating complex strategies clearly.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in sustainability consulting, environmental management, or agricultural science with a focus on sustainability.
• Proven expertise in sustainable agriculture principles, life cycle assessments, and ESG reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical solutions.
• Excellent remote communication, client management, and project leadership capabilities.
• Knowledge of international and South African environmental regulations and standards is advantageous.
